 Mindfulness through creative expression

I am a London based visual artist and educator, interested in  the power of creative practice as a path to holistic wellness  and healing.

A fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts (RSA), I work to raise the profile of the arts in my community in West London, by organising, events such as art trails, social groups and exhibitions. Co-founder of the Ealing Arts & Health Alliance and executive representative for the arts in Ealing on the ECN board.

I believe in lifelong learning and in sharing my work, knowledge and  experience with others. A firm believer in the transformative power of individual creative expression, I encourage and nurture this in my students and my community.

Who's the course for? Artists of all levels. No previous experience necessary.

What will I need? Some art materials, like some acrylic paper to paint on, a board or canvas, acrylic paints in primary colours (Red, Yellow, Blue + Black & White) and a small selection of brushes, one or two palette knives, a palette (could be a plate or tile), some water and some kitchen paper or rags.

What are the courses about?

We explore an abstract principle, concepts and techniques along with the work of relevant abstract artists, which we will interpret and use as inspiration.

You will aim to complete your work in class or at home. This means that you may have a finished piece of work from each class, or perhaps a good starting point for a larger piece of work. The practice of creating abstract work may at times push you out of your comfort zone however, the resulting work will be a reflection of you are, making this not only a creative journey but also one of self-discovery.

You will have the opportunity to explore a variety of painting techniques and methods, stimulating your creativity and building your personal painting 'toolkit'.

About the classes: I am an experienced art tutor, who aims to create a safe and supportive environment for all my students, where you are encouraged to explore your creativity without fear of judgment from others. Artwork created on these courses has been exhibited, with students going on to sell some of their pieces.
